On Thursday, May 10 a new bill was introduced in the NY State legislature to strengthen stan-
dards of care for dogs in large-scale, commercial breeding facilities, commonly known as puppy mills.
If passed, the bill would: ensure dogs receive adequate space, housing, exercise and veterinary care; broaden current laws to include wholesale breeders who sell to pet stores, and forbid anyone convicted of cruelty from holding a NY pet-dealer license.
